Physics is one of the oldest academic disciplines. Not only it is fundamental and foremost to all basic natural sciences, it has been significant and influential through advances in its understanding that have translated into new technologies. The story of physics has been one of people who thought outside the box. From Galileo and Newton in the 1600s to Einstein and Feynman in the 20th century, the progress of science in answering fundamental questions about the Nature is rooted in a different way of approaching things — a scientific way to test the validity of a physical theory, using a methodical approach to compare the implications of the theory in question with the associated conclusions drawn from experiments and observations conducted to test it.


Physics interacts with society in many important ways. Within the university, the department teaches postgraduate classes needed for future physicists and for many other professions. The University Department of Physics, Central University of Rajasthan established in the year 2011, offers three postgraduate courses leading to the Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree awarded by the Central University of Rajasthan, i.e. 2 Years M. Sc. Physics (Since 2011), 3 Years Integrated M. Sc. B. Ed. Physics (Since 2015), 5 Years Integrated M. Sc. Physics (Since 2013). In addition Ph.D. degree program is also introduced from year 2014 by the Department.

1.      2 Years M. Sc. Physics

2.      3 Years Integrated M. Sc. B. Ed. Physics

3.      5 Years Integrated M. Sc. Physics

4.      Ph. D.


Experienced faculty of the Department is devoted to research in their respective areas of specialization. Research and teaching are given equal importance by the faculty. Extra care is taken to pay individual attention to the students in their laboratory work and tutorial sessions. Project work and problem sessions are encouraged to develop innovative and analytical approach to physics learning.
