Our research group works in the following areas:

Remediation of environmental contaminants present in water/wastewater using nanotechnology

The work involves development of efficient, economic, and environment-friendly methods based on variety of nanomaterials for the remediation of toxic and hazardous environmental pollutants. Nanomaterials include zero-valent and bimetallic nanoparticles, polymer functionalized nanomaterials, and nanocomposites. Presently, engaged in developing photocatalyst-based nanocomposites for the treatment of emerging contaminants and endocrine disrupting chemicals.

    Nano-fertilizers

This work involve synthesis of eco-friendly nanofertilizers wherein micro- or macronutrients are encapsulated by nanomaterials which allow the release of nutrients into the soil in a slow and sustained manner, maintaining soil fertility, improving plant’s growth, preventing eutrophication and pollution of water resources.

    Environmental Monitoring and Assessment

Fluoride: Measurement of the concentration of fluoride in drinking water, soil, and vegetation in the nearby  areas of the University and assessing the health risk of fluoride exposure

Microplastics: Qualitative and quantitative assessment of microplastics in air, water and soil and associated health risks

    Research supervision

Supervised 19 graduate and 33 post graduate students

    Supervising 4 Ph.D. scholars

    Ongoing Projects:

Deanship of Scientific Research, University of Hail funded Collaborative Project: “Remediation of pharmaceutical drugs using Chitosan modified Nanoscale Zerovalent Iron supported Biochar (CS@nZVI-BC) in Hail region, Saudi Arabia”

APN funded collaborative project: “Floating Treatment Wetland System (FTWS) - Sustainable green technology to remediate polluted surface water bodies in the COVID 19-era”
