The Department of Biotechnology came in existence under the School of Life Sciences at Central University of Rajasthan in July 2011. The Master’s program in Biotechnology was started as the flagship program of the department with immediate effect. In the following academic year, 2012-13,Ph.D. program was introduced and then in academic year 2013-14 an integrated M.Sc. programme was also initiated.

The department has well equipped laboratories for Ph.D., M.Sc. and integrated M.Sc. students. The department has a total of ten highly qualified and  enthusiastic faculty members already on board. With continuous development and expansion of its scientific infrastructure and learned faculty, the  department aims to become one of the shining beacons of the University and the nation in the near future.

MSc Biotechnology

Eligibility:

Bachelor’s degree with Microbiology/Zoology/Botany/Life sciences / Biochemistry/ Genetics/ Biotechnology/ Medicine/ Pharmacy/ any other discipline of Biological sciences as one of the main subjects and Chemistry as one of the optional subjects at least for One year or Two semesters with minimum 50% of marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for general category and 45% or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS candidates

Integrated M. Sc. Biotechnology (5 years Program)

Ten integrated M.Sc. programmes were started parallely. Out of these programmes, seven programme viz. Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics share same course framework (except for the course of mathematics) for the first two years, after completion of which, specific courses of the individual programme are taught. The other three programmes viz. Statistics, Economics and Computer Science form the other group where courses are shared. This design of academic programme was adopted to make the science students learn basic fundamentals of all the science streams. Hence the students of biotechnology programme will learn basic courses related to biology and also other discipline e.g. chemistry, physics, mathematics, environmental science. Integrated M.Sc. programmes of the university were conceptualized to generate skilled manpower capable of taking inter-disciplinary approach to understand and solve real problems.
